Apple announced new Mac Studio M5 Max and M5 Ultra bringing the most beloved audio Mac to completely new performance levels.

With up to 36 CPU cores, up to 80 GPU cores and up to 512GB of unified memory the new Mac Studio is the perfect machine for most demanding audio and video workflows. To give you an idea of the A/V processing power, it can handle up to 33 streams of 8K ProRes 422 at 30fps.

Both configurations add Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, a PCIe Gen 6 SSD architecture for twice as fast for storage, and Genlock over USB-C for camera synchronisation. We’re intrigued to see how Genlock-capability plays out wirh DAWs like Pro Tools which currently need a dedicated SYNC HD of SYNC X for absolute lip sync.

Pre-orders are live now, shipping will start 22.9.26. Please note that it will take weeks or even months before the new Mac Studio is officially tested and certified for Pro Tools and other DAWs as well as video editing software.
