New Mac Book Pros with Thunderbolt

MacBookPro_2.11Apple introduced today the new Mac Book Pro models with the new, long-rumored I/O technology Thunderbolt (codename LightPeak). Developed by Intel and Apple, Thunderbolt is the holy grail of connectivity we’ve been waiting for since the first heard rumors about it couple of years ago.

One bus to rule them all, Thunderbolt is compatible with PCI Express, FireWire, USB, eSATA, HDMI, DVI, VGA, FibreChannel and Ethernet via adapters. 20 x faster than USB2, 12 x faster than FireWire 800, Thunderbolt also delivers 10W power to peripherals, allowing professional interfaces to run without PSU. First real-life tests confirm the mind-blowing speed – you can transfer a DVD worth of data literally in few seconds.

Other new MacBook Pro features include up to two times faster new i5 and i7 processors up to four cores, up to 3 times faster graphics with Intel HD 3000 chip, FaceTime HD 720p webcam, up to 7h battery life etc.
