Pro Tools 12 will come in three different versions:
– Pro Tools First, new free version of Pro Tools with basic feature set like 16 tracks, 4 inserts and sends, etc.
– Pro Tools 12, available as standalone software (rent or own) and bundled with Pro Tools Duet, Pro Tools Quartet, Pro Tools Mbox Pro, Eleven Rack interfaces.
– Pro Tools HD 12, the industry-standard DAW with advanced features for professional music and audio post production comes bundled with Pro Tools HDX and Pro Tools HD Native systems. Not available for rent or as standalone software.
When available later this quarter, Pro Tools 12 adds deep cloud collaboration enabling real-time work on the same project from different locations with clever new workflows including track freeze etc. Cloud storage can also be used for archiving and sharing projects and parts of projects including detailed metadata as well as selling end product via upcoming Avid Marketplace.
If you have Pro Tools HD 9 or 10, you can now upgrade to 11 and get one year of Avid support and upgrades including Pro Tools HD 12.
