AES Vienna was a relaxed show, no DJ wars like Frankfurt. As expected, the most interesting happening was surround mixing seminar by Ronald Prent (David Bowie, The Police, Elton John), Jeff Wolpert (Kris Kristofferson, Loreena McKennitt) and George Massenburg (the list would be way too long). The 5.1 mixes ran live on a 32-fader ICON D-Control with Pro Tools HD|5 Accel and Ronald, Jeff and George were happy to share their experiences and secrets which made the half-day session truly captivating.
Other highlight was Igor Levin’s (ex-Aardsync) new company Antelope Audio. Antelope’s Isochrone line of oven-controlled sync devices floored us with the versatility and ease of use. First units are already on their way to our showroom. Last but not least, the soon to be available Antelope Audio Isochrone 10M Rubidium Atomic Clock should put an end to the discussion of a reliable clock source… We hope to have the 10M soon in our showroom when it goes to full scale production. Come and have a listen or ask for a demo unit for your studio.
