Mbox – 3rd Generation
Avid released the new “G3” Mbox line-up. On top of the completely updated digital and analog components for better sound quality, the new Mboxes come with new drivers for Logic, Live, Record, Reason, Fruity Loops, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, and more. So now you can have the Avid I/O quality with all of your DAW apps, developed by the engineering team of Pro Tools HD. And although Mboxes now support a bunch of 3rd party software directly, a copy of Pro Tools LE is of course in the package as well.
Mbox Mini has pretty much retained the functionality of the last generation, only with better components, wider software support and sleek looks. The new Mbox and Mbox Pro include now onboard DSP for flexible cue mixing and reverb as well as built-in guitar tuner and much more flexible connections. As requested by users, monitoring capabilities have been updated as well, all the way to 5.1 monitoring with Mbox Pro. The maximal sample rates have been doubled, Mbox now going up to 96kHz and Mbox Pro up to 192kHz, depending on software used. All in all, Avid has introduced loads of new capabilities and flexibility requested by users. Stay tuned for more details.
