Punchlight
Real studios have real recording lights. Not only because it looks cool and professional but because it also creates a more relaxed and concentrated work atmosphere when everybody see immediately when the tape (well, disk) is rolling and punch in starts or ends.
Punchlight manufactures many different recording displays with MIDI or GPI interfaces. And if the models listed below are not enough, even custom graphics are possible. The Punchlight MIDI and Punchlight GPI have three outputs so you need only one box to run indicators for studio, control room and the outside door to prevent people walking in during a take. This is pretty must-have stuff for every studio which likes to call itself professional.

Basement Tales
It's incredible how cool people find something so simple and utterly practical as a proper recording display. Maybe because you used to see them only in big time studios or as "On The Air" lights in movies about American radio stations. Back in the old days of tape machines, getting recording display usually meant soldering a lamp and an interface together yourself - if the tape deck had some place to get the rec on/off signal. It's actually weird how long it took that somebody decided to manufacture professional recording lights for modern equipment like Pro Tools since the signal for rec on/off is easily found from the GPI interface of SYNC I/O and from MIDI stream.
But the main thing is that now they are available so you can look as cool as the big boys without burning your fingers or trashing your tape deck's motherboard.
