Logic Pro 7.2 Pro Tools 7 HD Compatible - UPDATE

New Logic Pro 7.2 is fully compatible with the Pro Tools 7.1 DAE. All features are supported, including ESB and EXS24TDM (you must install an updated Digidesign Stream Manager framework library file, which is downloadable from the Digidesign support website).

Although Logic Pro 7.2 is a universal version that runs natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Mac systems, Pro Tools is not yet compatible with Intel-based Macs. Customers using Pro Tools HD 6.9.x and earlier software must use Logic Pro 7.1 or earlier.

UPDATE:To install the Pro Tools files needed to support Logic Pro 7.2, you must download Pro Tools HD 7.1cs4 or higher, available as a free update for all Pro Tools HD 7 owners from the Digidesign website in the Support/Downloads/Pro Tools CS Updates section.

Second Pro Tools HD Rig For Rob and Reto

The successful producer-engineer team Reto Burrell/Rob Viso (recently Nr.1 on Swiss charts with Kandlbauer) had their second Pro Tools HD|3 system installed by SEC few days ago. Apparently everything is running as advertised since Rob reported back:"Pro Tools is running without problems... Great... Accel really kicks ass...". Thanks, Rob!

Apple Introduces Intel Macs

The first Intel Macs are out. The new iMac looks like iMac G5 but has Intel Core Duo dual-core processor and is "2 times faster" than iMac G5 according to Steve Jobs.

MacBook Pro replaces PowerBook G4 as the professional Mac for the road and also runs Intel Core Duo processor - "up to 4 times faster than PowerBook". Intel-native OS X Tiger 10.4.4 was also introduced at MacWorld San Francisco.

Digidesign is now offering two versions of Pro Tools|HD systems:PCI and PCIe. Price and power are identical. Digidesign also introduces the Digidesign Expansion|HD expansion chassis, a new six-slot PCI expansion chassis that connects to the host computer using a PCIe or PCI Host card. You can use the Digidesign Expansion|HD chassis to expand the power of your current PCI-based system, upgrade to a new PCIe-based computer without having to exchange your PCI cards, or extend your Pro Tools|HD system on a PCIe-based computer beyond the current maximum of three cards.
