TC Electronic UnWrap stereo to 5.1 shipping
TC Electronic released UnWrap up-conversion plug-in for Pro Tools HD. Originally developed for System 6000, UnWrap enables stereo to 5.1 up-conversions when there is no time to do a conventional 5.1 mix or multitrack source material is non-existent.
UnWrap offers an abundance of parameters to convert stereo and LtRt sources to 5.1, while remaining faithful to the original mix's width, timbre, spaciousness and other significant factors. Because of this approach the 5.1 output can be subsequently down-mixed to stereo again with no sonic penalties.
UnWrap includes customized up-conversion presets for film production and music mastering. All preset parameters are fully editable. With double-precision processing, UnWrap is capable of running at any sample rate between 44.1 and 96 kHz.

Analog Tape in Pro Tools - Reel Tape Suite announced
At NAMM, Digidesign unveiled its upcoming Reel Tape Suite including Reel Tape Saturation, Reel Tape Delay and Reel Tape Flanger.
Reel Tape Saturation does analog tape saturation effects by modeling analog tape machine and tape formulation characteristics. Reel Tape Delay simulates classic tape echo and Reel Tape Flanger gives you that sweet flanging of analog tape machines.
Reel Tape will be available soon. This could be the ticket to put your trusty old PR99 or A80 to deserved retirement.

Velvet is a new RTAS instrument plug-in that delivers highly realistic emulations of your favorite electric pianos to Pro Tools. By using a proprietary software engine, Velvet accurately emulates the nuances of the original instruments, both in sound quality and playing feel, down to the mechanical sound of the different pianos! Velvet is based on four legendary e-pianos:the Fender Rhodes Suitcase, MK I and MK II Stage Pianos, and Wurlitzer A200.
