Studio Network Solutions

Studio Network Solutions SNS
Studio Network Solutions (SNS) manufactures high-end SAN (Storage Area Network) solutions for multi-room audio and video facilities. With SNS Fibre Channel or iSCSI solutions you can connect several audio or video to a fast and reliable central storage system.

Evo

Evo
Evo is a networked storage solution that combines a high-performance storage array with extensive connectivity options. Evo can be a SAN, a NAS, or both at the same time and it’s compatible with leading applications such as Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, Avid and Adobe Premiere Pro.

The Evo Base configuration ships with up to 8 Terabytes of high-throughput storage and up to six direct-connect Mac and PC clients via 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel and iSCSI over Gigabit Ethernet. It includes:

- Fibre Channel/iSCSI SAN, NAS
- 8 x 2 Terabyte SATA 3Gb/s High Performance drives
- 8 Drive bays available for easy expandability
- 4 x 4Gb/s Direct-connect Fibre Channel SAN ports
- 2 x 1Gb/s Ethernet SAN/NAS ports
- 4 Licenses of SANmp volume sharing software
- Unlimited licenses of globalSAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X

By integrating a NAS and a SAN into one system Evo offers both file-sharing and volume-locking and by including Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NAS into a single product, it provides the best tool for every aspect of a project.

Upgrade options are available to easily add more storage into the system or increase the number of direct-connect Fibre Channel and iSCSI clients. A 10 Gb/s Ethernet option is also available, giving a 10x increase in network bandwidth for NAS and iSCSI. The available Evo options are:

- up to eight more drives in Evo Base (32 TB total)
- an Evo Expansion Unit (64 TB total)
- more Fibre Channel ports for a total of eight 4Gb/s ports
- more Ethernet ports for a total of six Gigabit Ethernet ports
- one 10Gb Ethernet port for maximum throughput

A fully configured Evo can support a total of 32 disks and up to ten SAN clients without a switch (Eight Fibre Channel & Two iSCSI, or Four Fibre Channel & Six iSCSI). But if you'd prefer to use a switch, that's OK, too.

Evo also includes features such as advanced disk-provisioning that enables drives to be arranged into storage pools, each capable of containing one or more volumes. Individual volumes can each be assigned a discrete RAID level, meaning the flexibility to choose what matters most: performance, reliability, usable space, or a mix of all three. For the most demanding applications, Evo offers the ability to dedicate any pool’s bandwidth to a specific task such as ingesting video.

SANmp

SanMP Admin and Client screenshots
A SANmp shared storage network does not require a dedicated server. With SANmp, audio, video and graphics workstations recognize the SAN as local storage. SANmp is uniquely specialized software that dynamically allows every workstation on the SAN to access the shared storage network whether iSCSI, Fibre Channel or a combination of the two.

SANmp serves as the central administration interface for the shared storage network and provides the utilities to configure the shared storage for your facility. For example, you can secure certain portions of your SAN so that only authorized engineers, editors, or clients can access them. A backup computer could be given read-only access to the entire network, allowing it to perform unattended archival at any time. To access central storage, an authorized user simply opens SANmp from any workstation and provides his unique ID and password. Based on the user’s privileges, he/she then selects the desired volume(s) and mounts them and the workstation will see them as local storage.

A/V SAN PRO

A/V SAN PRO
A/V SAN PRO provides multiple digital audio/video workstations simultaneous access to centralized storage at truly extraordinary speed.

The A/V SAN PRO has the immediate benefit of optimizing your creative workflow. All workstations can access shared storage at Fibre Channel speeds up to 4Gb thus enabling multi-tasking, faster product delivery, added efficiency and profitability. Each shared volume on the SAN can be easily accessed, mounted and unmounted via SANmp for Mac OS X and Windows. This means you can easily create and edit all of your projects directly on centralized storage, eliminating the need to push/pull between workstation and file server.

globalSAN

globalSAN X-4
The globalSAN product line is a complete shared storage system capable of handling incredible track count over your Gigabit Ethernet connection. Using the optional iSCSI accelerator you can have the following performance per workstation:

- 4 streams of DV per seat simultaneously
- 64 tracks of 24/48 audio record per workstation simultaneously
- 128 tracks of 24/48 audio playback per workstation simultaneously

There are different configurations available, spanning from 2 to 8 user licenses and several TB of hard disk space. It is perfect for workgroups that need significantly more I/O throughput, but do not have the resources for a Fibre Channel SAN. GlobalSAN is based on the iSCSI protocol, which maximizes the performance of Gigabit Ethernet using the Ethernet components already present in most facilities.

globalSAN features:
- Enable each room in your studio to record, edit and mix directly on a centralized hard drive system
- Each system is delivered to you pre-configured with a pre-built RAID 5 for maximum data protection
- You have the option of using the Gigabit Ethernet connection that's already built into your computer
- At 1 GB/s, the globalSAN offers more bandwidth than the fastest USB or FireWire systems
- globalSAN is scalable and can accommodate recording studios of practically any size
- Since each user connects to the globalSAN via Ethernet, there's really no practical distance limitation - unlike USB, FireWire and SCSI. This means you can install it in a machine room completely out of your way, just as you would with Fibre Channel storage
