FIREQ

FIREQ
Linear Phase EQ

FIREQ is a 1/6th octave (62 band) stereo finite impulse response (FIR) mastering equalizer with linear phase characteristics. Utilization of these FIR filters yields a highly transparent sound. This allows for the FIREQ to be a very useful mastering tool. With the built in frequency analyzer you can view the energy levels of your incoming audio and observe real time changes as you adjust the filters.

Use FIREQ’s Match feature to learn the spectral characteristics of one audio source and apply it to another. If you have ever recorded an artist several days in a row, occasionally the next days work does not have the same sonic footprint as the previous days session. Using the match function of the FIREQ, the sound best liked can be captured, stored, and applied to the new session. When working on a multi-mix compilation, use the FIREQ to achieve consistency between all your tracks.

The spectral display is used to analyze and shape the frequency content of the signal. Easily pick out problem areas in your audio then, after you’ve developed your filter, view both the input and output spectra and compare the effects of FIREQ’s EQ - a before and after analysis.

With the FIREQ states function, 50 different eq snapshots can be stored, recalled and saved for automation. States can be added, copied, moved or deleted in any of fifty locations. Start with an idea and use the FILL function to morph between states to create subtle changes to the eq response curve through time. The host audio program can then use automation to access those states and apply them to your sound for some really interesting effects. With the states overview window, all saved eq settings can be seen and accessed at once allowing for instant comparison of eq settings.

Two workspaces allow for easy comparison when subtle changes are made to an eq setting. A comprehensive history lets you return to previously selected eq adjustments at any time. Although FIREQ is a stereo eq, left and right channels can be linked or edited separately in one of four modes. If fine tuning of your eq is needed, the curve can be scaled, smoothed, or swept either through the frequency spectrum, or the dynamic range to obtain the desired results. Use the spectral display to find problem areas in your audio, and adjust them as needed. Boost or cut your signal by +/- 27 dB.

D4

D4
Multi Zone Dynamics Tool

Don't get confused - this is not multi-band compression. D4 is an entirely different beast. Why always apply the same compression to all audio levels? Compress the louder levels with a quick attack; expand the lower levels with a slow release and leave the mid level sounds alone. Try it with a traditional compressor - you won't get far. D4 lets you break your audio levels up into "zones" so you can control them exactly how you want. No one size fits all compression here.

Thought you knew compression? Think again. D4 lets you visualize compression in a way you've never seen before (no transfer curves here). Just like a graphic equalizer provides valuable information for your equalization efforts, so does D4 provide critical info for your compression efforts. No more shooting in the dark - just the info you need for total control.

Left channel, right channel, both or side chain - D4 let's you choose the audio that will trigger its compression. Like it fast and hard or slow and smooth? You choose: select from Peak or RMS analysis of your key to get the results you want. And once you've got that nailed, get busy with the three available filters (7 filter types to choose from) to tweak your key audio to meet your needs. Whether you're ducking, de-essing or trying something new, D4's key has you covered.

D4's compression meters indicate how your attack and release are affecting the compression. Cloud meters show you where your audio levels are concentrated. There's even a built-in "Auto-Limiter" for those times when you want to ensure your audio doesn't go in the red. Automatic gain compensation, look-ahead, and more.

Finis 3

Finis 3
Multiband Limiter

The Finis 3 is a 3-band peak limiter that uses RNDigital’s FIR filter technology to separate three bands without phase shift on the crossover frequencies. It consists of 3 independent peak limiters operating separately on each of the bands as well as one central peak limiter controlling the sum of all bands.

Finis 3 employs a psychoacoustic limiting algorithm that analyze several aspects of your audio and, considering the way humans perceive volume levels, intelligently adjusts your audio levels to keep them under the maximum you have specified. Finis 3 uses a proprietary algorithm that operates transparently, making it an effective choice on any material, from punk rock to electronis over to classical.

Finis 3 provides a meter not commonly found on other limiters: the Crest Factor Input/Output (I/O) Meter. Crest factor provides a quantitative measure of audio dynamics. By analyzing the crest factors of different recordings, an engineer is able to make a concrete comparison between the dynamics of different audio sources. Most importantly, because Finis 3s’ Crest Factor Meter indicates the crest factor of the input and output, as well as the difference between these two values, the user is able to see how limiting is affecting the dynamics of the material.

SPL-IZER

SPL-IZER
Multiband Splitter

The SPL-IZER is an adjustable 3 band 24db per octave FIR (Finite Impulse Response) frequency splitter that allows the three bands to be isolated and routed to aux or instrument tracks for separate processing.

The use of FIR filters ensures that no phase shifting occurs at the frequency split points. With this tool, one can use for example ones favorite single band compressor and make it 3 band.

There is of course a myriad of potential uses. One use could be to use the Spl-izer in front of the reverb auxes. No reverb on the low end, the original reverb on the mid section and the same reverb but with reduced decay on the high end. Acoustic rhythm guitar track run through the Spl-izer: low end muted, mid section straight through and a short echo/ chorus only on the high end.

Features
- User adjustable frequency split point and audio levels
- The low to mid split point can be set from 80Hz to 1475 Hz
- The mid to high split point from 80Hz to 16kHz
- Choose between Hanning or Blackman windows
- The various level meters feature RNDigital's proprietary +8db input meter with peak and RMS level indicators
- The direct output of the plug-in can be switched between Mute, Sum, Low Band, Mid Band and High Band for instant monitoring
- The three bands created by the the splitter each have their own level meter and adjustable gain
- The plug-in makes these signals available to your DAW as individual busses

DETAILER

DETAILER
Psycho-Acoustic Multiband Compressor

Detailer is a stereo mastering process developed by Roger Nichols and used in countless hit records. Detailer offers a new way of increasing the perception of "detail" in the mid level of a final mix while still allowing increased loudness. The process involves a combination of three-band limiting and dynamic widening using psycho-acoustic processing. Roger Nichols has fine tuned the process to produce the most effective result with the least amount of adjustment.

Detailer splits the incoming signal into three frequency bands that are each processed independently. Great care has been taken to eliminate phase shifts at the crossover points, a common problem with multi band plug-ins. Once the signal processing is complete, the three bands are recombined into a full frequency band signal.

Detailer uses spectral harmonic detection and intelligent parameter adjustment to apply its innovative dynamic-widening processes only where and when it is useful.

Using the advanced limiting algorithms from our highly acclaimed Finis plug-in ensures maximum audio levels - if that’s needed - while preserving audio dynamics. Using Detailer along with Dynam-izer will give you the loudest mixes on the planet, and leave your dynamics intact.

A comprehensive set of meters lets you adjust Detailer settings to perfectly match the specific characteristics of your audio signals.

Finis

Finis
Limiter

We all know that unplanned digital distortion is bad news. Use Finis to control your audio levels and prevent distortion from rearing its ugly head. And when you need to give your audio more edge, Finis helps you maximize your audio's loudness. Even at extreme settings, Finis can control levels without audible distortion. Whether you just need to catch an occasional over or to increase the average level of your audio, Finis offers a flexible solution.

Additionally you want more control over the way a limiter behaves or "sounds". After all, the same limiting style doesn't fit every purpose. That's why Finis provides three distinct limiting algorithms - so that you can tweak the plug-ins limiting style to meet your needs. But Finis offers choice without complexity. You only need to interact with two primary controls to get the response you want. Using Finis is simple - in many cases it can just be activated, a vew small adjustments to the Release or Reaction controls and it is done.

Finis gives you all the metering you need to get the most from your limiting. To make sure that you don't lose sight of any aspect of your audio levels, Finis introduces an integrated Peak, RMS, and Peak hold meter. What's more, because limiting affects audio dynamics, Finis includes an innovative new Crest Factor meter. This meter ensures you don't kill your audio dynamics. Unless of course, that's the goal.

Since Finis supports sample rates up to 192 kHz it's ready to accommodate digital recording now and into the future. Of course, because Finis is a true brick-wall limiter there is no worry about those naughty overs slipping by. Other Finis features include two workspaces to compare limiting settings, configurable peak hold time, peak hold readouts, and more…
